The 1972 Clarke Goal Poem
Poem By: Borge Ravndal
So, fifty three minutes played in this marvelous game
I wonder, will we ever experience the same
Charlton with the ball, playing Lorimer on the right
He looks up, sees Jones running in his sight
Jones running with the ball, number nine
He makes the cross and Clarke thinks: ”This is mine”!
What a brilliant GOAL it is, 1-0 to Leeds
Clarke with a diving header, satisfies the needs
To the Leeds fans who can celebrate and scream
And will remember this final, declaring:
Leeds United
What a magnificent team!
