Caspian the new owners of Leeds sacked Wilkinson after Leeds were beaten 4-0 at home to the teams most
hated rivals. Either bowing to the Leeds fans, who called for 'Wilko Out' or using the result
as an excuse for the sacking, to draft in their main man George Graham.
Graham had a succesful time with Arsenal, winning two championships among other
honours, but currently was on the outs with the
football world after he'd been found guilty of taking bungs. Caspian offered him the
job, his one year ban had been served and he couldn't wait to get back. Taking over on
the 10th September, Graham complained the team had too many players who had a lack of first
team experience, injuries were also crippling the side. He worked hard on defence, the Graham trademark,
and added Robert Molenaar to the squad. Leeds finished 11th that season and Graham had a clearout with Yeboah,
Brolin, Palmer, Rush and Deane all leaving. Graham was limited for cash the following season but did bring
in Hasselbaink, Haaland and Hopkin. Harry Kewell was also promoted from the youth team and together they
helped Leeds
to finish fifth. The football improved, the draw specialist Graham turned Leeds into a
decent outfit to watch. It had however, been rumoured, that Graham was favourite to take over at Spurs.
Leeds had helped Graham back into the good books of football, but Graham yielded on his long term contract
and left for London.
